Your role

About the internship:

The successful candidate will join the Kuala Lumpur Legal Support Center (LSC) and, under the supervision of a Team Manager, will assist with the provision of legal assistance and advice in support of operations in SLB’s Asia and Middle East markets relevant to a global technology company with customers in the energy industry.  The successful candidate will have a scope of work within customer contracts, supplier contacts, corporate entity management, or general legal and compliance matters. This is typically a 6-month training position that can mature into a position as a full-time employee.

Essential responsibilities & duties:

The LSC scope of work covers contract review and drafting (both customer and supplier contracts), management of Schlumberger's legal entities and branches in countries in which SLB operates, as well as general legal support, including implementation of SLB’s ethics and compliance program, legal knowledge management, and disputes and litigation. Initial duties would include support for the day-to-day legal and administrative tasks assigned by LSC Team Managers for one of these areas.  The scope would be expected to expand to also include some or all of the following:

  • Contract review, drafting, and negotiation from the contract request to signature on a timely basis, including obtaining contract approvals and managing contract-related records in SLB contracts databases;
  • Defining and managing contract risk profiles
  • Generating contract reports and summaries as needed, and actively participating in post-award contract management, including drafting of amendments and managing contract expiry or cancellation;
  • Creation and management of corporate entity documents, including board resolutions and meeting minutes, powers of attorney, and director and officer appointments; and
  • Provision of training to internal stakeholders about contract, legal, and compliance standards and requirements.

The successful candidate would also:

  • Participate in Legal Department training and development initiatives and complete all assigned training;
  • Become familiar with and use Legal Department systems and tools and contribute to the legal knowledge management systems used by SLB; and
