What did you study and where?

I studied civil engineering at Imperial College London, UK.

Why did you choose the Arup graduate programme?

I originally joined Arup as an intern over one of the summer breaks. I enjoyed the experience, so I applied for the graduate programme in Malaysia. The culture, the opportunities for exploration and creativity, and the strong focus on sustainable development told me that Arup was the right fit to start my career.

What do you get up to in your day-to-day role?

I work on multiple projects ranging from small to large, up to different design and construction phases. I enjoy bringing new digital ways of working into projects, such as developing digital tools and automating routine tasks. It’s great to help my team work more efficiently and produce more sustainable and cost-effective designs for the least number of hours. My team leader gives me the freedom to explore new ideas and express myself. My team provides continuous support and motivation, encouraging me always to try my best and produce quality work.

What has been your most enjoyable moment/project so far?

My most enjoyable moment has been collaborating on projects and working with the Hong Kong and Melbourne offices. There is no strict line of hierarchy in our team, so everyone’s input matters!

What are your future aspirations?

In the future, I would like to keep developing my digital skills and design new tools to help engineers design creative and innovative solutions that will help create a more sustainable world and help us overcome the world’s climate challenges.
